A Kasaancore tee for the ones who came, learned and listened. “Gasa’áan” (say it like: Gah-saw-AWN) is the real name of our village, It means “Pretty Town” in Lingít (Tlingit), our relatives who occupied this land before us Kaigani Haidas came ashore. Printed on a black Hanes tee. $32 each or 2 for $60 with…
Tourist tee? Nah. This one’s a test.
If you know, you know. And if you don’t, read the shirt.
Gasa’áan (say it like: Gah-saw-AWN) is the original name for our village – the real name, the beautiful one. It means “Pretty Town” in Lingít (Tlingit), our relatives who occupied this land before us Kaigani Haidas came ashore. It’s what this place was called long before mapmakers shoed up with pens and no listening skills.
Kasaan is what the ferry schedule says, but Gasa’áan is what the land still answers to.
This is for the ones who came out here and actually paid attention. Who asked questions, got corrected with love (or side-eye), and remembered the name. Who didn’t just snap a pic of the longhouse and dip.
Wanna know if someone’s really been to our part of the world?
Their GPS didn’t work.
Their mail shows up 10 days late – if the floatplane didn’t fogged in.
Oh and speaking of mail:
We ship once a week if the weather cooperates.
USPS still doesn’t believe our addresses are real.
Google thinks we’re a lake.
So yeah – this tee might take a hot minute to arrive.
But it’s made slow. Like everything good.
Printed on a black Hanes tee.
